As the tributes to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Aaliyah‘s passing continued to roll in Wednesday (August 25), the singer’s estate not only expressed their gratitude to her legion of diehard fans but also sent them into a frenzy with the teasing of a new project.

Taking to Instagram, reps from the ‘More Than a Woman’ diva’s estate unveiled news of a soon-to-come ‘special project.’ The post was captioned:
“It is with heavy hearts that we share this day of remembrance that marks the 20th year with all of you. We want to honor the beautiful life and legacy of Babygirl.
As a token of our love and respect for your support throughout the years, we are happy to unveil a special project that we’ve been working on. We truly believe that it embodies Aaliyah’s spirit and passion for life and her artistry.
Please head over to Aaliyah’s Official YouTube channel (⛓Link in our IG Stories) to see what we’ve been working on. We are just getting started & we hope you really feel us on this one.”

Though nondescript, the announcement was certainly enough to generate buzz.
The project may follow the recent digital release of Aaliyah’s ‘One in a Million‘ album, but it – unlike that Blackground 2.0 Records effort – will come as one of few authorized releases from the singer’s estate.

Flavor Aaliyah ❤️🎶 And Shayla is around here singing Feel So Good like she went to high school with my generation 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Bish, your grown ass is GROWN lmaooooooooo 😂 If you’re old enough to graduate college and pump out that little p**, then don’t talk that age ISH with me, missy 😂🤳🏽Cause chances are yo ass is GROWN *Kanyesha voice* lol 💋
Did you have to do this on an Aaliyah post around the 20th anniversary of her death? I would never. Take it to another post and keep it respectful when it comes to Baby Girl. Period.
💕
Her family is backwards. They’re more protective of her music than they were of her. The details of her relationship with RK are disgusting. She was a minor and her family was no where to be found.
This is so true.
Its time to let “babygirl” rest. Her legacy has been tarnished by greedy uncle and confused estate who’ve kept the controversies and drama alive for 20 years. Give it a rest.
Well many ch*** abusers had the trust of the family or part of the family , in Suviving RKelly we all saw how he manipulate to make people believe they’re are safe around him , it’s easy to just judge and blame the family
Who allows their 14 year old daughter to travel/tour with a grown man alone? Or with anyone, for that matter. Oh that’s right, people who favor money over all else. Parental supervision, ever heard of it?
Yes, it’s very easy to blame them because it’s obvious that they were bought or were weak. Either way, they didn’t protect her.
Aaliyah was a prostitute who sold her soul for a record contract, if anything she was the lucky who got what she wanted.
Well said💅🏿 I’m in love with new upgrades fancy bish 🤳🏻 Unlike that old grotesque cow
She was a minor. The only thing she could legally sell were burgers and fries!
