Published: Wednesday 13th Oct 2021 by Sam

Chloe Bailey has hit back at those claiming she’s doing the most with her performances, specifically her latest offering on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.’

Full story below…

As reported, the rising solo star blazed the stage with a unique performance of her hit single ‘Have Mercy,’ which fused various elements – from the vocal to the electronic.

And while some drew to the range of skills on show, others took to social media to claim the 23-year-old is doing “too much”.

Minutes ago, Bailey weighed-in and made clear that “much” is what she’ll be serving regardless.

She defiantly wrote:

“doing “too much” is my specialty.”

Well, it looks like that’s that. What are…

Not fair! This gurl is doing her best! Leave her alone 💅🏿 How come nobody saying flopmani is dancing too much???? Y’all just hating on light skinned black woman for no reason

    • yup! October 14, 2021

I did not really see her as all that light skinned…

    • Cory October 14, 2021

People aren’t hating on Chloe because she is a light skin woman. That is bull! I am much lighter than Chloe who is not even really light skin, but be honest. Lightskin black people aren’t suffering to the same extent as darker skinned people. Lightskin women always get preferential treatment over dark-skinned women like Normani. And she’s gotten similar criticism several times.

I think she should be more conscious of the criticism she receives. You don’t have to clap back at every “bad” review you receive. I don’t think enough celebrities actually evaluate the criticism. Their ego is just too big. And she’s said herself she wants all the accolades, all the awards, and so on. If that’s the case, do your thing, but don’t ignore the feedback you receive. People don’t dislike her, they’re just turned off by certain aspects of her showmanship. I’m not saying she should do anything differently, but I think she should think about it. This was a very Saweetie response where people criticized her for sampling and she was like “Well i’m good at it 💅🏾“ Like sis… no you’re not, that’s what they’re trying to tell you, and it’s gonna hold you back.

I just feel like either you like her or you don’t but doing too much sounds lame as hell. Like what’s doing too much and why not criticize the artist that DONT DO ENOUGH!!!! Y’all so quick to let these mediocre talents get all the accolades for doing bare minimum but when somebody finally brings back that REAL BACK IN THE DAY ARTISTRY it’s doing too much. No it’s y’all just are use to basic artists and are ok with minimal talent!

      • I can’t October 13, 2021

When people say she’s “doing too much”, they’re saying she’s trying too hard, which means that she’s coming across as inauthentic. People can pick up on that and they can tell when you’re trying to be something that doesn’t come natural to you. It’s not effortless. I don’t mind at all that she emulates Beyoncé, that’s her mentor, that’s who she wants to be like, but sometimes it’s so “Beyoncé” that she looks like she’s doing a Rupaul level lip-syncing impersonation and it doesn’t translate well. I’m sure that’s not her intention, but that’s what she’s giving to quite a few people. It’s dumb that you think other singers being less talented means no one can criticize Chloe. This is how people feel and this article isn’t about anyone else. I think Chloe has the potential to be exceptional and achieve all that she says she wants, but she has some kinks to iron out and she still needs to define herself as an individual and an artist. Being a good singer and a good dancer doesn’t make you a good performer or a good artist for that matter. The irony is that if anyone is praising the bare minimum here it’s you.

      • True Tea October 13, 2021

        This!

A bunch of hypocrites. Chloe turns up on stage & while singing booty shaking music BUT she’s doing too much?

Cardi is on stage performing PREGNANT?? Lizzo is running around exposing her a$$….literally.

      • Troller of Trolls October 14, 2021

They love cheering on mediocrity. The same people saying she’s doing too much, are the same ones twerking until their back breaks so Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion. Wonder if Normani fans felt she was doing to much in her video with Cardi B?

    • AB October 13, 2021

Not sure how I praised bare minimum with what I said especially when I’m saying that’s what I despise but if that’s how your read it do you boo boo! 💁🏾‍♂️ But for me being someone that’s tired of R&B singers with basic voices that don’t PERFORM well I’ll take all she’s giving. Yes she can define herself more but doing too much still sounds stupid. Especially since can’t none of y’all identify what doing less should look like for her. Y’all say she doing too much with no suggestion on how to fix it. Either like it or don’t and move on. Just stop talking out y’all asses but in the same breath wanna praise Normani non singing ass just because she dances good. Like outta here.

      • I can’t October 14, 2021

You keep bringing up random artists that no one is talking about to prove this stupid point that Chloe is exempt from criticism. Like, No one can complain about Chloe because people like Normani?? You’re doubling down on this illogical “point” for whatever reason. It doesn’t matter if other people are less talented. That doesn’t invalidate anyone’s criticism of another person. As far as I’m concerned, being able to sing and dance should be a given. It should be a prerequisite for being an artist. Now it’s so uncommon that when you do see someone who can sing and dance you think it’s some next level ish. So it’s fine that you see that and that’s enough for you to think it means she’s infallible and perfect, but for others it’s not. And them being turned off by some of her mannerisms doesn’t mean they hate her or think she’s not talented. They don’t have to like her or not and move on. If you can only comprehend one dimensional opinions just say that.

      • MyOwnOpine October 14, 2021

Here you go. She needs to stop with the Beyonce cut and paste singing and choreography. She needs to lean in more on the fact that she is a producer like she did at Jimmy Kimmel. All the crotch grabbing and booty shaking is very pedestrian. She is very talented. I like her better with her sister. I think Halle helps her artistry IMO.

      • Keykeybey October 14, 2021

I’m guessing doing less would look like what Halle is doing 🤷🏾‍♀️

    • Randi jo October 16, 2021

You have entirely no clue about how much criticism she receives. No she should not consider their criticism. Her being her has gotten her to where she is and has only gotten them on her timeline. #Havemercy

She would of just been better off not responding because it’s giving bothered tease…

I’m sure the comments and people regarding her debut as unnecessary and being too much is making her feel some kind of way though. I mean, she did say she is the more sensitive one between her sister and her.

My opinion on her and all these other new chicks (Normani, Jesy N) trying to break out of their groups and be like or replicate Beyoncé is the fact that when Beyoncé came out, she gave a little bit of a tease of what was left to come. With each album she progressed and grew from visuals, to her subject matters in her songs, to her sound. NONE of these new girls are matching that or even coming close. I just see a bunch of carbon copies using social media for hype and they are believing it but yet none of that is helping translate to sells or high charting songs…it’s damaging them in the long run. REAL music lovers/people can tell and feel when sh*t is real and fake, when things are genuine and when it’s fake and for all 3 of them, I get fake and trying to create shock value to keep tongues wagging but they aren’t wagging the way they should sadly and that’s due to the majority being fed up or bored of this new “talent” that rehashes old ideas and tries to force feed it down our throats. I still say it was too early for Chloe to go solo and I’m scared that this solo venture will flop for her and then Halle will be the one to take the spotlight because lately I have actually been seeing a lot of people on YouTube and other blogs saying they are looking forward to her music more surprisingly.

  4. EH October 13, 2021

I like that she was showcasing her talent but if you had never heard to the song before you would be left very confused. The arrangement didn’t land. There wasn’t an organic crescendo. The opening sounded goofy too. The lyrics are to dumb to try to make it sound elegant. She has to distract from the fact that she looks like Jarjar Binks and she knows she’s the ugly sister.

    • Farrahs Luggage (8k Camila) October 13, 2021

      JarJar Binks? ⚰️💀💀💀

  5. Dc October 13, 2021

She’s mad she has to do allll this for press and her song already peaked move on to next single please

  6. Farrahs Luggage (8k Camila) October 13, 2021

Girl you’re coming off tacky and cheap. A violin orchestra for a song about big ass? These cheap costumes? The dead facial expressions while your literal ass is hanging out in these dance recital outfits. She’s exhausting

  7. True Tea October 13, 2021

Not Cardi fans saying Chloe is doing too much, lol Cardi does the absolute most whether it’s music or on a social media.

Let’s not forget how Cardi got dragged by Candice Owens for talking sh** & thinking she was a muthafuggin’ political activist. And that face…she definitely has done too much to that!!!

You h/o/e/s will give “Twerk” over 100M views, where a bunch of stipper b*tches are doing nothing but shaking a$$ through out the entire video but Chloe is doing too much??

    • Shayla Queen™ 👑 October 14, 2021

ALL of this! Especially the part about Candace Owens dragging Cardi the clown to HELL 🤣

  8. Clarks0o00ñ October 13, 2021

Normani stans are so critical of chloe, why?
    Are yall scared?
    😂😂
Chloe is giving what normani couldn’t give.
    Vocals
    Personality
    Stage presence
    Playing instruments
    Fashion

    • AB October 15, 2021

Faaaaaacts Clarksooooon facts!!!!! I spent all that time supporting Normani when I should’ve just gave it all to Chloe (which I’ve always supported Chloe x Halle) but I was bamboozled by Normani hands down!!!

  9. Fufu October 14, 2021

you can’t build a career off of ‘shock value’. if you not meant to be a star then find something else you good at. the only artist who branded shock value very well was Gaga, and even that didn’t end well for her. Her music still slapped and showcased her raw singing talent. there’s a limit to what social media hype can do for you. these kids need to learn to medidate on their crafts. go off social media, find a hideout somewhere. go through and over a myriad of songs, learn new dancing skills, find where your SOUL lies. fine you can put dozens of slutty thirst traps on your insta to buzz up hype and make a booty poppin anthem for the sake of clout. your career will stall. the GP knows when something is lacking in your career. yes Beyonce always been s*** but the music ALWAYS delivered, the talent ALWAYS shone. Chloe’s sexiness isn’t anything new and quite honestly I don’t care for it.

  10. Rosemary Homeister October 14, 2021

She’s a poor example for young women trying to gain respect. Bedroom or club activity should stay there. Now tell me she’s goes to church every Sunday (haha).

  11. Ijs October 14, 2021

She’s not appealing to the right demographic. Maybe if her music was more original, more up-to-date and less like something we were just bopping to a few years ago this transition would be easier to accept. I don’t think the public is looking for a newer younger Beyonce. The demographic that kept Bey relevant has gotten older is no longer the pop star consumer. If she wants stardom & fame she needs to focus on what the current 13 to 26 year old crowd is into. Right now, they consider the Beyonce style and sound “old school”, which is why Bey hasn’t been doing numbers like she ised to. I think she’s gonna flop.

  12. Champ October 14, 2021

Chloe is one of the more talented of the newer batch of R&B girls. Doing too much is always a good thing, HOWEVER her Fallon performance was one big conundrum of wtf. Too much can leave the audience confused and you never want to make that mistake! With the right training and direction, Chloe could go far. What she’s doing currently ain’t it. Just being honest!!!!

    • Slaven October 15, 2021

      Another stupid person

  13. Troller of Trolls October 14, 2021

Those screaming “she does to much” are mad that they can’t do enough. I’m with Chloe on this one!

  14. Daisy October 14, 2021

Meanwhile her song is still stuck in the 50s
    Lol

  15. Toya October 14, 2021

Well let her do the most….I love it! Let her be GREAT!

  16. Desiree October 15, 2021

    At least she wasn’t naked!!!

  17. Stephanie October 15, 2021

    Chloe’s exhausting…

  18. Slaven October 15, 2021

Artists are here to be themselves, not to change who they are because some of them didn’t like it. But your message actually doesn’t even have any sense. ‘Do your thing, but don’t ignore the feedback? Doing your thing is exactly that – ignoring. And that’s what she should do. She is not here to please everybody, which is actually impossible in every aspect you do in your life. So please yourself and be yourself. Are you stupid a bit or what?
