That Grape Juice Exclusive: DJ Ace Unveils This Week’s #SPOTLIGHT3 From #EverythingRNB

Published: Saturday 16th Oct 2021 by Sam

Here at That Grape Juice, we love all things R&B! So, fittingly, we’ve teamed up with DJ Ace – one of the UK’s most revered R&B connoisseurs and host of BBC 1Xtra‘s weekly series Everything RNB (which airs Sundays at 10pm).

Each week he’ll be rounding up his latest show and previewing what’s upcoming on the next episode. Right here on That Grape Juice.

Without further ado, check out the latest installment with DJ Ace below…

Your boy Ace is back again to put you onto the hottest new R&B, that has dropped this past week. I’ll be picking 3 tracks as part of my #SPOTLIGHT3.

Summer Walker – Ex For A Reason (ft. JT from the City Girls)

Summer Walker has captured everyone’s attention recently, with the creative marketing campaign for her second album ‘Still Over It’.  ‘Ex For A Reason’ is the first single off the album, featuring JT from the City Girls. This track will most definitely be the inspiration for a number of Instagram captions over the next few weeks.

Ego Ella May – YoYo

South London singer and songwriter, Ego Ella released her new 4-track E.P this week entitled ‘Fieldnotes’. ‘YoYo’ is the first track taken from the project which she explains in an interview, details her own experiences with being introverted. In 2020 Ego Ella May won ‘Best Jazz Act’ at the MOBO Awards, so she’s definitely one to watch.

********

Amun – Mesmerised

British-Somali singer, Amun is definitely one to watch. The rising star dropped her latest track ‘Mesmerised’ along with the colorful visuals which are reminiscent of an early 2000s rap video.

Amun’s vibe is not that of your typical R&B singer; she leans more towards tracks that wouldn’t be out of place in the club, rather than powerful love ballads.

If you wanna hear some more new dope R&B, catch me on 1Xtra’s R&B show each and every Sunday night from 10pm. This week I’ll be chopping it up with Australian-born, L.A based artist Rini, and I’ll also be reloading my recent interview with Giveon.
