‘Up’ hitmaker Cardi B helped the American Music Awards send the ratings of its annual telecast in that direction!
Details inside:
Viewership: 4.04 Million
After garnering its all-time lowest ratings last year (as we reported here), the American Music Awards (AMAs) slightly rebounded with Sunday’s showing (November 21).
Serving as the 49th annual edition of the ceremony, the 2021 #AMAs – loaded with performances from the likes of Chloe Bailey, Silk Sonic, Olivia Rodrigo, BTS, and more (as can be seen here) – averaged 4.04 million viewers, a modest increase from 2020’s 4.01 million.
The ratings win was undoubtedly due in great to the show’s huge impact on socials.
“The awards also had a big social media footprint: Per Talkwalker’s Social Content Ratings, the AMAs were the most social program on TV in the past three years (excluding presidential debates) and posted sizable year to year gains in both interactions and video views.”
