Last year, Beyoncé – with her career total upped to 79 nods – became the most nominated woman in the history of the 63-year history of the GRAMMYs.
Now, her history-making husband JAY-Z reigns as the ceremony’s overall most nominated.
Details inside:
2021’s been a great year for JAY and, thanks to new GRAMMY news, 2022 may be even better.
As if becoming the first living rapper to be inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame earlier this month wasn’t enough to celebrate (as we reported here), JAY-Z became the most awarded rapper in GRAMMY history earlier this year when his golden gramophone count was increased to 23.
After the 2022 GRAMMY nominations were announced Tuesday (November 24), the 51-year-old – with songs ‘Bath Salts’ (DMX, Nas) and ‘Jail’ (Kanye West) – landed two mentions in the ‘Best Rap Song’ category. As a result, he’s now collected a cumulative 83 nominations across his 25+-year career, making him the award show’s most nominated act ever.
His career total now bests the likes of Quincy Jones (80), Paul McCartney (79), Beyoncé (79), and West (74).
