Whether penciled in history books for reasons good, bad, ugly, and/or everything in between, 2021 brought with it some of entertainment’s most memorable moments.
Now, as the year draws to a close, we are reflecting on our favorite moments that rocked – and to some degree maybe even reshaped – the Urban and Pop cultural landscape as we know it.
Next, we’ll recount the many ways Doja Cat made 2021 her best year ever!
Doja Cat started 2021 the exact same way she’s ending it – with a slew of GRAMMY nominations!
Still riding high on the success of her inaugural #1 hit, ‘Say So’ (2020), Cat kicked off the year with one of GRAMMY night’s most talked about performances (as seen above). And though she missed out on the 3 trophies she was up for, the buzz around that critically acclaimed performance was just the calm before the storm.
By spring (ahead of the release of her junior album ‘Planet Her’), she’d already collected four top 20 singles (‘Streets,’ ‘Kiss Me More,’ ‘Best Friend.’ and ’34+35′ remix) – some to historic measure.
After releasing ‘Planet Her’ to critical and commercial acclaim, she collected a few more top 20 hits.
Her domination expanded well beyond the charts, however. She made headlines for a sweet Pepsi deal and was appointed the year’s MTV VMA hostess!

As if going into 2022 as one of the year’s most GRAMMY-nominated acts isn’t enough to celebrate, Cat is already conceptualizing her next album!
One of music’s brightest stars, we can’t wait to see what she has cooked up!
