The Cardi B assisted cut arrived this summer and appeared to be designed to launch the new album campaign from the chart-topper.
And while the single earned a respectable peak of #4 on the Billboard Hot 100, its stay on the tally wasn’t long. A reality that seemed to energize naysayers.
Now, Lizzo is clapping back.

Responding to a fan who pointed out that the track has now amassed 90 million streams on Spotify, the 33-year-old intimated that folk are wrongly equating non-viral music with bad music. A stance she refutes.
Taking to social media, Lizzo said:
“I don’t think ppl know the difference between ‘bad’ music & non-viral music these days.
They equate virality w quality & that’s just not true
When I play this song live thousands of ppl scream the words I’m getting plaques for Rumors
Viral does NOT = successful YALL”
