It is finally here.
After much anticipation, Aaliyah‘s new tune – ‘Poison’ – has been unleashed. The track features high-profile singer The Weeknd and marks his second collaborative track released this week.
‘Poison’ was first announced on December 14, with the announcement confirming the track’s arrival on December 17.
Moreover, the tune is set to be the official first single from Aaliyah’s upcoming posthumous LP. According to Blackground CEO Barry Hankerson, the album is set to feature some of the biggest names in the music industry. The Weeknd, Drake, Future, and Chris Brown are all confirmed to be featured on it.

They should’ve just rereleased “ Enough Said “ with Drake and make 40 and Tim the primary producers. This is not it. The backlash Drake got a few years ago is why we getting this type of nonsense now. Enough Said including Chris Brown’s song I Don’t Think They Know both did Aaliyah absolute justice.
I’m not sure the engineers were able to tie their voices together very well, but it’s really special to hear something Aaliyah had worked on even if it was in the early stages.
Sounds like they had a rough small take and stretched it out to make it a full song (well a short one) thanks to his feature.
I don’t like the song nor the vocals nor the instrumental.
I hope they are keeping some gems produced by Timbo for this new album.
Then if the material isn’t there, they cannot invent it…

Honestly it made me emotional to hear something from Aaliyah we’ve never heard before I actually dropped a tear. It’s unfortunate the quality of the vocal is so poor it really affects the impact of the song altogether and takes away from the feeling it almost makes me side eye the uncle for putting it out. But I am excited for more music and just hope the quality of the other songs is much better because this is a rough way to start and I just feel bad cause I know people are gonna tear this apart online

They should have fixed the pitch issue on the vocal. I think they tried to be smart and make her voice fit the weekends terrible shaky ass vocals (that man can’t sing). I am definitely looking forward to the album after two decades of waiting. Not loving this but I am glad she is back. Btw Static Major wrote the song so it must be a vocal stem from the Aaliyah (red) album.

Of course it’s unfinished and poor quality. It was a demo/early recording. Henkerson should let the poor soul rest. He’s been all over Aaliyah since she died, yet maltreated her she was alive. Her legacy is just a cashcow to him. He should respect the wishes of her close family and leave this well alone.
