Thanks to over 300 million records sold worldwide (a feat supported by seven #1 albums on the Billboard 200 and nine #1 hits on the Hot 100), Elton John is already penciled in history books as one of the top 10 most successful musical acts of all-time.
But, if the success of his latest Pop single ‘Cold Heart’ is any indicator, he has his sights set on extending that placement.
Just two months after learning his Dua Lipa-assisted hit had crossed into the Hot 100’s top 20 (marking his first entry into the chart region since the late 90’s), ‘Cold’ has now cracked the top 10. Printed at #7 on this week’s refreshed edition of the hit list, the placement marks John’s first top 10 hit since he hit #1 with ‘Candle in the Wind’ in 1997.
As the entry comes as the 28th top 10 hit of his career, he now ties Mariah Carey in 7th place on the list of ‘most top 10 hits of all-time.’

Breaking Michael Jackson‘s record for longest span between Hot 100 top 10 hits in the process (excluding holiday songs), John – who earned his first top 10 over 51 years ago – joins an exclusive list of male hitmakers who boast top 10 hits in four or more distinct decades (Jackson, JAY-Z, and Andy Williams).
