With its February 22 release date quickly approaching, ‘Donda 2’ – the conceptual follow-up to Kanye West‘s 2021 album ‘Donda’ – is easily the year’s most anticipated musical project yet.
But, for those making room on their Spotify and Apple Music playlists for the highly anticipated LP, they should know Kanye has no intention of placing it on any major streaming platform.

Taking to Instagram late Thursday (February 17), ‘Ye surprised his 14.1 million followers with the announcement that ‘Donda 2’ will have a singular home – STEM.
“Donda 2 will only be available on my own platform, the Stem Player. Not on Apple Amazon Spotify or YouTube,” Kanye announced. “Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes. It’s time to free music from this oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own. Go to stemplayer.com now to order.”
Launched in August 2021, the $200 Stem Player – a device created in partnership between Yeezy Tech and Kano Computing – is a pocket-sized music player that gives customers to adjust the settings on any song (thereby making it customizable).
While STEM will cover the digital release angle of ‘Donda 2,’ West has yet to confirm if the album will have a physical rollout.
