Not even 24 hours after Kanye West announced his forthcoming album, ‘Donda 2,’ would be available exclusively on his $200 Stem Players, the GRAMMY winner confirms he’s already netted $1 million in revenue from sales of the pocket-sized music product.
That’s not the only money moves he’s making headlines for, however.

Friday afternoon (February 18), West took to Instagram to share a report that indicated his STEM Player had generated nearly $1.4 million in the last 24 hours.
In the same post, he slammed major streamers – chiefly Apple Music – for behavior he claims is ‘hurtful’ to songwriters.
“I walked away from Apple right after having the most number 1’s in Apple history. Song Writers have been really hurt by streaming platforms. So as the leading innovator in music of the past 20 years. I’m putting my own work on the line to change it,” he said. “I’ve already won by not being afraid to move. Now we’re winning because there are true supporters that have invested their hard earned money in my vision of freedom.”

The post came just 12 hours after Ye revealed he walked away from a $100 million deal offered by the same platform.
“After 10 albums after being under 10 contracts. I turned down a hundred million dollar Apple deal. No one can pay me to be disrespected,” he shared. “Tech companies made music practically free so if you don’t do merch sneakers and tours you don’t eat. Jay Z made Tidal and fake media attacked him. Well in the words of my big brother. Come and get me.”

As much as I can’t stand him, he’s making huge waves. This is tech companies worst nightmare and I am here for it. Streaming killed music and he is telling NO lies. Their music is art and whether you’re a Kanye fan, to Lenny, to Stevie Nicks, to Bob Dylan all the way to 2Pak…to just have each and every piece of their catalogue available and every other artist for just 5-10 bucks a month, is ridiculous. I’m here for this. If Mariah, Kelly, Adele or Britney go this route I’m buying one.

Kanye is right. The value of music should be increased. Artist aren’t being paid by streaming services and it’s not right. I wish his approach would have been easier like increasing the value of his album. It is 22 songs. I guess it’s easier to put it on his STEM Player. I hope other artist find venues like this to showcase their music and move away streaming services. Real fans will purchase music without streaming.

It’s true. The value of albums make no money. They have to charge us more. That’s the only way they’ll break even these days. Going platinum is not enough.
