Just as Saweetie fans (affectionately called #IcyGang) thought they were closer to the rapper’s debut album due to the reception of its latest single, ‘Closer’ (featuring H.E.R.), she offered a stunning update at Billboard’s Women in Music event Wednesday night (March 3).
On hand to accept the event’s GameChanger Award, the GRAMMY nominee (born Diamonte Harper) confirmed changes to the rollout of her inaugural LP, ‘Pretty B*tch Music,’ which has seen its arrival serially delayed due to the 28-year-old’s confession she wanted to revamp the sonic direction of its content.
Months after announcing that update, Harper says she’s finally headed into the studio to close out the project’s recording.

Originally due June 2021, Saweetie took to the pink carpet of Billboard’s Women in Music event this week to confirm she’s finally making time to finish recording her debut album.
“We actually start recording this week,” she started. “It was finished, but now I’m going in to like…I’m locking out. It’s my first time; I’m locking out six rooms in a very special building this week. So, we’ll see.”
Harper was sure to reassure her patient fans the set will still hit digital shelves before September, however.
“You’re definitely getting it [before the end of summer],” she said. “I’m a summer baby, so it’ll be hot when it comes out.”
As consolation for the wait, Harper will chronicle the process with an accompanying documentary.

Chile… it was 2020 then it was June 2021 then it was late 2021 then early 2022 then before summer 2022 and now before fall? Is this album ever actually coming out? And how are you just starting recording this week?.

I think they are tweaking the album to make it easier for her to perform certain songs. I like what her team is doing with her & honestly I don’t think she needs an album out now or anytime soon this is really great anticipation. The more people see her as a global superstar/household name/brand before her album drops the better I see nothing wrong with her taking her time conjuring up as many fans as possible. More people know of her now than they ever did !
