With record sales well over 120 million during his 35-year career, George Michael stood as one of the best-selling singer-songwriters of all time over his lifetime.
Just months after the fifth anniversary of his untimely death, Michael’s illustrious life story is being brought to theaters across the United States via an autobiographical documentary narrated by the English Pop icon himself.
Details inside:
In honor of what would’ve been the singer’s 59th birthday (June 25), Sony Music Entertainment and Trafalgar Releasing, are unleashing ‘Freedom Uncut’ – a feature documentary designed to explore and highlight everything from Michael’s influential career to his personal life and more.
Beyond including never-before-seen footage filmed during the creation of his top-selling solo albums ‘Faith’ (1987) and ‘Listen Without Prejudice: Vol 1’ (1990), the doc will also show George’s private battles with the challenges of fame as well as feature interviews with the late star’s celebrity pals Mary J. Blige, Elton John, Tony Bennett, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Jean Paul Gautier, and more.
“In honor of George’s birthday this June, we are thrilled to be working with [director] David Austin and our partners at Trafalgar Releasing to bring fans unprecedented access to his extraordinary life both on and off the stage,” said Tom Mackay, President, Premium Content, Sony Music Entertainment.
Branded George’s final work, the movie – which serves as a follow-up to Showtime’s 2017 ‘George Michael Freedom’ – lands in theaters June 22.
Tickets for ‘George Michael Freedom Uncut’ go on sale April 27 and can be purchased by clicking here.
