Shakira is speaking up and out as the rumor mill intensifies around her private life.

This week, the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ performer trended in earnest online as a number of outlets went public with scandal-anchored reports about her relationship with soccer star Gerard Pique. 

Paired with this were reports about the singer being hospitalized, with terms such as “panic attack” being touted. This was amplified when pictures of the star in an ambulance hit the net.

Now, Shakira has reponded.

Interestingly, the intense debate about her relationship was not addressed. However, she did directly tackle claims about her physical well-being and shared what actually transpired.

Moments ago, she took to Twitter with:

“Guys, I am getting a lot of messages of concern that I was seen in an ambulance in Barcelona recently. I just wanted to let you know that those photos are from last weekend (May 28), when my dad, unfortunately, had a bad fall and I accompanied him in an ambulance to the hospital where he is recovering now. Please do send all of your best wishes his way thank you all as always for all of your love & support.”
