Kanye West has easily been the month’s most talked about celebrity thanks to the controversy that’s arisen in response to his promotion and defense of a branded ‘White Lives Matter’ t-shirt.
When not doubling down on its purpose and even attacking the Black Lives Matter movement in the process, West made headlines for disparaging comments about Diddy, Lizzo, and Jewish people over the past week alone – actions that led to the 45-year-old music and fashion mogul’s Instagram and Twitter accounts being temporarily banned.
And while many offered commentary about Kanye’s antics, some – like fellow rapper Willie D – have delivered stinging words that have garnered side-eyes for taking criticism of the ‘Gold Digger’ performer too far.
See what we mean inside.
As seen above, Willie D – boxer and rapper most famous for being a member of the 80’s Rap group Geto Boys – took to social media over the weekend to slam Kanye and his deceased mother, Donda.
“Kanye West’s civil rights activist mama didn’t die because of a botched surgery. I think she committed [suicide] after realizing she had raised a self-loathing [coconut],” the controversial post read.

Inciting a swift and fiery backlash from West’s fans as a result, the 55-year-old fielded a day of outrage from commenters before eventually walking the comments back on Sunday (October 9).
This, of course, not without wielding a few more insults.
“I had to get rid of all these Kanye West stans all in my DMs, all in the comment section of my Instagram because I put up a post saying that I don’t believe Kanye West mama died of a botched surgery. I think she killed herself because she had realized she had created a self-loathing coconut,” he started the apology video before saying, “They got mad at mad and tried to bully me because I said what I said, but when Kanye West wore White lives matter shirt they were praising him as a free-thinker. The irony.”
Ultimately, the 80’s hitmaker decided he should be the “bigger person” and ask forgiveness for the unsavory statement.
“Having considered you guys’ beef, I’ve had a change of heart. I’m going to go ahead and be the bigger man and apologize. What I should’ve said was ‘f*ck all y’all,'” he said at the video’s conclusion.
At writing, West nor a rep from his camp have responded to D’s “apology.”
As has been widely reported over the years, Kanye’s mother, Donda, died in 2007 at age 58 after suffering complications from elective surgery.
