Jennifer Lopez DID NOT Say She’s Singing ‘I Have Nothing’ As GRAMMY Tribute to Whitney Houston, Rep Says

Published: Saturday 3rd Dec 2022 by Rashad

Jennifer Lopez may have made headlines in the past for using her vocal chops to tackle one of Whitney Houston‘s most celebrated numbers, ‘Saving All My Love For You’ (as reported here), but that doesn’t mean she will be rendering other live renditions of the Pop icon’s challenging hits any time soon.

The tweet above has been the source of headlines and criticism all week after a poster alleged Lopez took to ‘TIME’ magazine to announce she would be performing a tribute to Houston at next year’s GRAMMYs.

“I feel that Whitney’s songs fit my vocal range very well. I’m going to sing ‘I Have Nothing’ and ‘I Will Always Love You,'” the poster purported.

By Friday (December 2) the post had gone viral and ignited debates galore on social media after being shared thousands of times. This after alleged audio of Lopez’s rehearsals leaked to the net.

See some highlights of responses from concerned Whitney fans.

The hoopla landed on the desk of Lopez, who spoke out via a rep and denied the claims.

“There is no truth to this rumor and that interview did not happen,” Lauren Schwartz, a spokesperson for Jennifer, said before sharing that the actor-singer’s team is “looking into” the origin of the audio clip “but either way it is not related to any Grammy performance.”

To further corroborate the rep’s statement, the Associated Press (AP) performed an independent fact-check and found no reference of such an interview on TIME’s site or archives.  The mag later confirmed to AP there is no such statement from the ‘On the Floor’ singer.

Longtime fans of Lopez, affectionately called #JLovers, know this isn’t the first time she’s ruffled feathers for her reported involvement with a GRAMMY tribute.

In early 2019, Motown fans called for a boycott of the year’s biggest night in music because it was announced J.Lo would lead the charge with a performance of the legendary label’s greatest hits.  Click here to read more about that.

Whitney was a mediocre singer with a weak mediocre voice. Whitney didn’t have range either, only 3 octaves to be exact. It got even worse than to Crack.

Agreed. She was also very bland. I could just never get into her. Something was missing for me.

She would have sung both songs better than Whitney herself would have done during the last ten years of her life. And yes, as much as you all hate to hear it, because of all the crack. Inhaling that much smoke into your lungs daily for years upon years obviously has a negative impact!

Whitney is undoubtedly the gold standard of vocal dexterity whether you like it or not. Every musician and people who understand music respect and acknowledge that. Its probably why everyone fears covering “i will always love you”

    • Shayla Queen™ 👑 December 3, 2022

Whitney’s version of I Will Always Love You IS a cover. It was originally sung by Dolly Parton. Shows how much you know about music.

JLo could outsing Whitney and Mariah ANY DAY facts

    • Nah December 3, 2022

Clearly you meant out-suck and swallow, which is how J-h**’s music career got started. She was Mariah’s ex-husband’s mistress.

in 2022, with so many humans having access to social media and no rules set on Twitter, anybody can say anything about anyone, and people will believe it. It’s too much for random people to have so much power. With a few clicks on your phone, you have a mega-phone directed at the planet.
Fake News! Blue Check Marks PLEASE!!!

  9. Nah December 3, 2022

Whew! Thank God!! The jokes would’ve written themselves. It’s almost blasphemous to mention JLo and Whitney in the same sentence when it comes to singing. it’s hard to imagine the Grammy’s being that disrespectful to Whitney, again (remember they continued to party with her dead body still in the hotel room a few floors up).

    • Fancy BISH (Back To The Future 🤣)👊🏻💎💋 December 4, 2022

Why would they waste a party because some lesbian druggie overdosed on crack?

  10. True Tea December 3, 2022

For a moment, I thought J. HO was on that booger sugar.

I knew it couldn’t have been a sober mind speaking.
