It’s been over a decade since Keri Hilson last tackled Billboard charts with hits from her last studio album, 2010’s ‘No Boys Allowed,’ but the GRAMMY nominee suggests the wait for its follow-up is winding down.
When hot on the promo trailer for her latest film, VH1’s ‘Hip Hop Family Christmas Wedding’ (the sequel to the 2021 hit holiday flick ‘Hip Hop Family Christmas’), Hilson – who spent the latter half of this year flexing her greatest hits live aboard the latest iteration of the ‘Millennium’ tour – was quizzed multiple times about the musical moves that would follow the jaunt’s end.
Waxing honest about her next musical steps, she not only dished on the creative process for the yet-titled project but also addressed the 2019 ‘false start’ that left some of her patient fans sour about her forthcoming LP.
Hop inside to see what she said.
While chatting it up Shay Diddy of California’s 106.1 KMEL about reconnecting with fans via the ‘Millennium’ tour, Keri doubled down on a previous announcement that her new music will likely be a “surprise drop” and not announced through conventional channels.
“We had a false start. Not as many as publications and blogs [have reported]. I only had one false start and then my dad passed, so I was gearing up [to release songs] and then that happened. I’ve also taken on a lot of films,” she relayed on what’s delayed her new music release.
After sharing that working on movies helped with her grieving process, she dished more about her forthcoming musical opus.
“…music is ready. It’s done. It’s amazing. It’s what I do; it’s up-standard but it’s unique and innovative. I’ve always kind of led the charge on a lot of different sounds,” she said.
The message is one she reiterated with Christal Jordan.
“I’ve evolved so much in my personal journey and love – that’s what music is about for me,” she replied when asked what she’s hoping to share with new music. “It’s about being authentic to where you are, who you are, how you are, and where you are. I tell stories again, and the stories are evolved but they’re still relatable and vulnerable.”
Later in the chat she said she is looking forward to seeing how people respond to the “sonically pleasing” set, which – as of time reported – does not have an official release date attached to it.
I’ve always loved Keri shes a real vocalist real writer real star. It’s still so funny to hear people saying the theif woman “ended” her career as if cameIs wife can even keep hers without stealing someone else’s work. Keri’s coming through and she’s ending your fave
Lol Keri admitted herself that fiasco ended her career. It did TENFOLD. Keri committed career s****** and there is no recovery.
Idk why you re-posted your incorrect comment thrice; doesn’t make it true.
The good sis said it was the end of her 10 yr relationship & the abuse from the rabid fan base that contributed to her depression.
Y’all Beyoncé fans love to ignore the song Keri did with Jay-Z that touched on the ridiculous Rumors.

That attitude is the reason why she is where she is among other things. Leave that in the past dont even bring it up, everyone can shine on their own. If she wanted to release music she would.
Keri is innovative and definitely did lead the pack soundwise at the top of the 2000s and I’m sure she will be again. Do not underestimate this woman. She is pure talent and could drop an album of bangers any damn time she decides to.
*late 2000s
Everyone was coming to Keri for a feature and/or for her to write them a hit. That pen game is on point.
Gurl bye! Queen B destroyed her long time ago
We need another D*ckmatize Anthem like “The Way You Love Me”.

Agree! Keri’s pen game is underrated.
Bey could never with her non existent personality.
Imposter! F*** off
LOL!
The REAL True Tea would never impersonate anyone since that’s a downgrade for me. For you it’s clearly an upgrade to imitate my likeness. And I can’t blame you.
She have the very good song. Yes I liking her lot
Shut the f*** up please
Keri is a great songwriter but I hope she isnt like these new girls who leep TALKING about a release but nothing materializes. She has had more than enough time to get past those “dust ups” people like to refer to…we shall see.
