Michael Jackson’s Music Catalog Reportedly Set to Be Sold for Close to $1 BILLION

In life, Michael Jackson wasn’t just a master of the stage, he was a maestro businessman too. Most notably due to savvy moves such as acquiring lucrative music catalogs.

Now, posthumously, the King of Pop’s Estate is reportedly following suit with the partial sale of his own catalog – and the fee attached is huge.

Full story below…

Citing three sources closes to the deal, Variety reports that the Michael Jackson Estate is “selling half of its interests in the legendary singer’s music catalog in a deal in the $800 million-$900 million range.”

The megastar’s longtime label home Sony Music and a possible financial partner are said to be hashing out a deal to acquire 50% of the Estate’s interests in Jackson’s publishing, recorded-music revenues, the Tony Award-winning ‘MJ: The Musical,’  upcoming biopic ‘Michael,’ and more assets.

Once complete, the deal – which encompasses recordings, publishing rights, and more – would serve as the biggest of its kind.

TMZ provide additional insights, revealing that the potential sale comes with a few key prerequisites. The most poignant being Jackson’s Estate wanting to maintain “complete management and control.”

It’s of note that the sale is just 50% of the Estate’s interest, meaning the totality of Jackson’s music catalog could in theory be double the gargantuan sum currently touted.

Big deal. Beyoncé’s will soon be worth more than this. Renaissance alone will be worth $500m. DIL $800m.

Her celebrity is worth a lot, but that’s not to be confused with her music, because that’s a different story. Just being honest.
