Over a year after the release of their debut album, ‘An Evening with Silk Sonic,’ R&B supergroup Silk Sonic continues to see the effort and its housed hits collect gains on streaming and digital sales outlets.
The LP’s lead single, the chart-topping ‘Leave the Door Open,’ closed in on double Platinum status just four months after it first hit airwaves – a feat that helped its parent project soar to a Platinum certification at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) a year later.
And while fans wait with bated breath on news if the successful duo will be giving ‘Evening’ an official follow-up, the set’s second single – ‘Smokin Out the Window’ – continues to blaze its own successful path at the RIAA.
Details inside.
Taking to press Monday (January 30), the RIAA revealed ‘Smokin Out the Window’ had been elevated to 2x Platinum in the United States – a measure that denotes sales equivalence of 2 million in the territory.
For the group, the triumph comes as the second tune from ‘Evening’ to reach such a sales threshold and also shines as Paak’s second multi-Platinum hit.
For Mars, the two plaques attained with Silk Sonic add to his massive collection that already includes 13 multi-Platinum awards and a historic 6 Diamond awards. “Diamond” denotes sales of 10 million in the U.S.
