It’s been months since the good folks at ‘Rolling Stone’ ruffled the feathers a many-a-diva’s fan base for their ill-received ranking of the ‘200 Greatest Singers Ever.’
And while some saw their supporters take to social media to share their disdain, others (namely Celine Dion fans) took action by protesting at the mag’s headquarters (as we reported here).
The latest to nab headlines for giving the tally a royal thumbs down is Queen of Funk Chaka Khan – who not only slammed her position on the list (#29) but also dissed a few of her fellow divas who landed ahead of her on it.

As revealed in a recent interview with ‘The Originals’ podcast, the ‘Sweet Thing’ singer didn’t exactly have the sweetest things to say when she was quizzed on her thoughts about the ‘Rolling Stone’ list.
“I didn’t even know what the hell you were talking about, so obviously this don’t mean a great deal to me,” she told interviewer Andrew Goldman about the ‘RS’ ranking. “These people don’t quantify or validate me in any way.”
Renown for her candor as much as her soaring vocals, Khan – despite suggesting the list didn’t validate her – still seemed perturbed by her placement relative to some other divas.
When it was revealed Adele ranked #22 (seven spots above her), Chaka replied, “Okay, I quit.”
“That must be payola or some shit like that,” the ‘I’m Every Woman’ belter said in response to Carey’s listing at #5.
The biggest diss came when Goldman shared the 69-year-old’s on-and-off-again friend Mary J. Blige was printed in the #25 spot.
“They are blind as a motherfucking bat! They need hearing aids…These must be the children of Helen Keller,” Khan exclaimed.
