After Friday (April 14) brought with it ‘Me’ and ‘Mine,’ the first two singles from Kelly Clarkson‘s forthcoming album ‘Chemistry,’ the GRAMMY and EMMY-winning diva wasted no time hopping on the promo trail in their support.
Kicking off Tuesday’s episode (April 18) of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ with the first televised performance of the emotionally-charged ‘Mine,’ Clarkson took vocal flight as she sang stinging lyrics that reflect on her healing experience post-divorce from Brandon Blackstock (following seven years of marriage).
After the stunning showing, Kelly dished on the creative process of the song’s creation.
“Well, I don’t really need to explain it because you know the lyrics are, well, they’re pretty self-evident at this point. Yeah, I was feeling all the feelings when I wrote that one,” she said before later sharing, “I’ve never really done anything like that on a chorus, and never changed tempo on a song. It was just a different vibe for me overall, so I was very excited about it — but obviously was also just very angry and sad.”
‘Chemistry’ is set to hit digital shelves on June 23. Click here to see its full tracklist.
Boring….
People don’t want to have this conversation, but Kelly Clarkson really has one of the top voices currently active in the industry. Everyone is great for their own reasons and it’s not as simple as Singer A is better than Singer B or anything, I think the reason she isn’t at an Adele/Celine/Whitney level (for example) in the general publics eyes, is her song choices are hit or miss. The skill and talent is there in excess. This is a hit, but it’s for the grown people that have experienced true heartbreak. Heartbreak and love are universal, but I think the music she’s making lately is definitely for the 35+ crowd.
