Jessie J is embarking on a new chapter: independence.
Full story below…
The ‘Bang Bang’ belter has been signed to UMG’s Republic Records for almost two decades and achieved seismic success – both on home soil and internationally with bops such as ‘Price Tag’ and ‘Do It Like A Dude.’
However, J has announced that she’s exiting the major label system and plans to strut forward as an independent act.
Chalking to the decision to motherhood and how it’s impacted her mindset, the Brit-bred songbird took to social media saying:
“After 17 years, I have decided to leave Republic Records.”
Unpacking the rationale for the decision, she continued:
“I have to just be honest with who I am and what I want from my career now and how I feel – and being signed just doesn’t sit with that now.
There’s no negative spin, nothing’s happened, it’s not dramatic. It’s just me saying it doesn’t feel right being signed and it hasn’t for years. So, I need to stop just trusting my instincts and act on them…”

Jessie is so immensely talented, so here’s wishing her the best as she sets sail on this new journey.
Because one thing is for sure, that voice is still voice-ing and her pen game is potent.
Good for her. Now she wont be able to blame her record label when she flops all over again.
She never did and you’re just a nasty person.
Everything went wrong after her 2nd album
Bang Bang says heyyy
She has a killer voice but I fear she never found her lane. I hope she knows exactly who she is as an artist that’s the only way she’ll succeed independently. Best of luck to Jessie!
I never liked her. Her voice is too lesbian for me. Bang bang was a hit coz Ari and Nicki on the track.
Absolutely no one cares, slow news day tgj
So talented, yet so many meh songs and somehow not very likeable. Her Voice is amazing though
she look like Michael Jackson in the pic. lol
ROSE was everything
I saw her on tour that year. Great show
She’s so talented and raw
Not surprised after the mess that was “I Want Love” – Jessie trying to mesh the kind of music she wants to make with something commericsl for the label. She seemed happiest with ROSE where she had complete freedom..
