Only 43 acts in the 71-year history of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) can boast having 20 or more Platinum plaques for singles.
A certification bestowed for sales equivalence of 1 million units in the United States, the number of awards has historically eluded female acts even more as only 24% of the aforementioned club are ladies – a score upped recently by Pop princess Britney Spears.
The diva, who is currently rocking headlines with jaw-dropping revelations aboard her long-awaited memoir ‘The Woman In Me‘ (released October 24), has also rocked the RIAA with a slew of new certifications.
So many she’s in fact joined an exclusive club of female hitmakers.
Taking to press Tuesday (October 24), the RIAA lifted the lid on a bevy of brand new Britney certifications. See the list below.

With the upgrades above Spears’ digital single sales now sit at 58 million, making her one of the best-selling female acts in the world.
The figure is bolstered by an astounding 23 Platinum-certified songs, a stat only the likes of Taylor Swift (49), Rihanna (44), Beyonce (40), Ariana Grande (27), Carrie Underwood (25), Katy Perry (24), and Mariah Carey (23) can boast.
When it comes to all female acts who have at least 20 Platinum-minuted hits, Billie Eilish (20), Lady Gaga (20), and SZA (20) also make the cut.
