Latto Eyes Andre 3000 Collab & Says She’s the “Frontrunner for Female Rap in Atlanta”: “Generations After This Will Know Who I Am”

After a nearly two-decade hibernation, Andre 3000 stepped into the ‘New Blue Sun’ by unveiling his first solo album on Friday (November 17).

Barely getting to enjoy the critical acclaim being showered on the instrumental effort, the Hip-Hop legend’s learned his name is already atop the wishlist of some of today’s most prominent performers.

Leading the pack is fellow Atlanta hitmaker Latto.

Taking to our friends at ‘XXL‘ recently, Latto (born Alyssa Stephens) dished on everything from her hit career to her future plans, the unique challenges of being a female rapper, and more.

As it relates to her current status, Stephens made it clear she’s not modest about her success.

“Am I the First Lady of Atlanta? I do feel like I’m the frontrunner for female rap in Atlanta. I will say that. I agree with it. I think there’s a lot more work to be done for it to be cemented. Generations after this will know who Latto is and will respect Latto as First Lady of Atlanta,” she shared.

Her vote of self-confidence is definitely not unfounded.

Atlanta is a Hip-Hop haven for sure and has given rise to some of the genre’s biggest names (e.g. OutKast, T.I., Migos, Gucci Mane, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Future, Lil Baby, 2 Chainz, Ludacris, and many more), but no other femcee from the A can boast Stephens’ level of triumphs from chart-topping hits to major brand endorsements and more (all accomplished over the last two years).

The Rap diva suggests those wins are just the tip of the iceberg, however.

“I want to have my own record label. I think I have a good eye and ear for new talent because I built my career from the ground up…,” she told ‘XXL’ “I would be a good CEO with my own label. I see myself being more business savvy. Music is how I got my foot in the door, but I think I am way bigger than music.”

But, before she gets to that boss dream, there’s another she hopes to bag sooner: getting Andre on her next album (the follow-up to 2022’s ‘777‘).

“I want to bring André 3000 [fully] out of retirement. I got a song for André right now that will go so f**kin’ crazy. And I’m really just trying to pull all strings, so hopefully, this can reach André somehow. I want André on my album,” she said about the project that she promises will hit shelves in 2024.
