As his debut solo album, ‘Golden,’ presses toward a Gold certification at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), former BTS star Jung Kook is hoping to expedite that journey by unveiling the official music video for the LP’s housed ballad ‘I Hate You.’
The emotional clip not only showcases stunning cinematography during its shifts from a melancholic black-and-white scheme to vibrant bursts of color, but also shows off the 26-year-old’s impressive acting chops.
“I’m gonna hate you / Paint you like the villain that you never were / I’m gonna blame you / For things that you don’t do / Hating you’s the only way it doesn’t hurt,” he croons on the Shawn Mendes and Scott Harris-penned track.

‘Hate’ arrives shortly after Jung Kook took to social media to inform dedicated fans about his forthcoming hiatus due to having to enlist in the Korean army for 18 months.
“In December, I will start a new journey; I’m leaving you for a while to serve in the military,” he wrote. “As I share this news, I feel heavy on one hand, and on the other hand, I’m reminded of precious memories with ARMY, so my heart warms up. Every moment I’ve spent with you has been the brightest time of my life. ARMY’s laughter, support, and love led me to this point. Thank you so much for supporting my dream and walking with me silently.”
