Britney Spears fans willing a musical comeback for the superstar have been on quite the roller coaster of late.
Indeed, just as quickly as reports of a new album being prepared hit the newswire, the superstar quelled those flames of excitement – declaring “I will never return to the music industry.”
The” is she/isn’t she” staging a comeback narrative has been one of the central definers of the discourse around the diva post-conservatorship.
For, despite stressing that she had no desire to function as a “Pop star” again due to traumas around the legal mandate that controlled her life for 13 years, reports of a chart return have been constant.
Now, a source has lifted the lid on the latest round of rumors and unpacked why Spears herself may have been out of the loop.
Full story below…
Rolling Stone cites an insider close to developments who claims the wheels were indeed in motion for new music from the performer.
However, the movement was not from Spears herself – but rather from her management and A&R:
“Right now, management and A&R are trying to get her excited for the music. As of right now, she’s not actively in recording but they’re getting [songs] done to present to her.
Nothing is cemented or in stone.
The hype around this is that everyone wants her to make music again, but I don’t know if she’s there yet.”
Word is that “Pop ballads and uptempo songs” had been prepared to present to the 42-year-old star, with the likes of Charli XCX, Julia Michaels, Cirkut, and other creatives from the singer’s critically acclaimed ‘Glory’ album being tapped to contribute.

Britney and her music are etched into the fabric of both music and culture, so we – like many – will always greet the prospect of new material from her with ample excitement. Especially given the triumphant/redemptive arc that will naturally define any such comeback effort.
At the same time, it will be vital for Britney herself to be a central engine to said return.
The fact that she already said she’s done with music but nobody is listening. I’m sad too If she quits music but WE have to respect HER choice. After everyhing she’s been through they still can’t do that, god.
we are ready! Mother! please feed us some milk.
We checkin for The Prince of Pop Justin Timberlake new album anyway.
LMAO SAID NOBODY EVER LMAO 🤣 🤣🤣🤣
If it sounds like Glory and BJ, I’m glad she’s not recording again. Those albums were pure trash
1999-2000 is over. Hang it up Brit. You cannot sing or dance
She has no talent anyway
it’s time for a new young girl to become the next Britney because the real Britney is done.
Typical Sony/RCA trying to milk her for what she’s worth. That’s if this story is true.
