Madonna Faces “False Advertising” Class Action Lawsuit for Starting ‘Celebration Tour’ Concerts 2 Hours Late

Published: Saturday 20th Jan 2024 by Rashad

As the first female act in music history to generate over $1 billion at the touring box office, Queen of Pop Madonna has quite the reputation for being a royal concert draw for her legion of followers worldwide.

Similarly, the legendary diva – much to the chagrin of fans and fellow celebs alike – has developed a reputation for being excessively tardy to her own shows, with some starting as late as 3 hours after the reported kickoff time.

After years of complaints from supporters, a couple of New York concertgoers decided the Pop icon had pushed their love (and patience) over the borderline.

Look inside to see the action they’re taking in response.

Madonna may be garnering rave reviews for her greatest hits ‘Celebration Tour rocking concert venues around the world, but a pair of Brooklyn ticketholders aren’t exactly giving the songstress a standing ovation.

In fact, they’re hoping she’ll be standing in court soon after they filed a lawsuit Wednesday (January 17) that accuses her of false advertising and negligent misrepresentation due to starting her concerts at the Barclays Center after 10:30pm on all three nights – shifting the endtime to approximately 1am.

The tickets advertised the shows would start at 8:30pm.

According to the plaintiffs, the tardiness caused significant inconvenience to concertgoers due to them being “confronted with limited public transportation, limited ride-sharing, and/or increased public and private transportation costs.”

“In addition, many ticketholders who attended concerts on a weeknight had to get up early to go to work and/or take care of their family responsibilities the next day,” the complaint read.

Demanding judgment against Madge, Live Nation (the tour producer), and Brooklyn Events Center for “actual and consequential damages,” the sum sought by the plaintiffs involved in the proposed class action has not been disclosed as of time of this report.

At writing, the 65-year-old hitmaker has not responded to the lawsuit.
