Watch: Kelly Rowland Reveals She’s “Finally Inspired” To Make New Music

Published: Monday 26th Feb 2024 by Rashad

Kelly Rowland may be sitting at #1 on Netflix’s current most-watched list thanks to the Tyler Perry-directed ‘Mea Culpa,’ but now the R&B diva finally has her sights set on topping music charts once again.

Nearly 11 years separate Rowland fans (affectionately called #RowlandStones) from her last studio album, 2013’s ‘Talk a Good Game,’ but – at long last – Kelly is gearing up to bring the wait for her next musical chapter to a close.

Hot on the promo trail for ‘Mea,’ the 43-year-old took to ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ alongside Perry and her co-star Trevante Rhodes recently to dish on the film and so much more.

When quizzed about new music, Rowland glowed.

“I’m finally inspired,” the Destiny’s Child alum explained. “I’m finally inspired, you can’t just be like writing about anything and I don’t want just another sexy song. I want to talk about so many different things and I’m really excited about the topic this album around.”

While she didn’t give a timeframe on when music lovers should expect the project on shelves, the topic of new tune is one she embraced in multiple interviews during the promo cycle for her Netflix movie.

Taking to ‘Nightline,’ she echoed the sentiment shared on ‘Clarkson.’

“I’m finally ready to tell stories with a body of work,” she said before explaining she didn’t want her new music to sound “trendy.” “I want to say something from my perspective…I’ve been in the game for 20-something years.”
