Over 25 years into his career Eminem is still cranking out hits!
Just days after learning his controversial new smash single ‘Houdini‘ appeared atop the U.K. singles charts with huge sales, he followed suit in his native side of the pond – marking a major personal milestone along the way.
Detail inside.
After a week of grabbing headlines for disses aimed at Megan Thee Stallion, RuPaul, and more, ‘Houdini’ opened at #2 on the Hot 100 – held at bay from the top spot by Post Malone and Morgan Wallen‘s ‘I Had Some Help.’
Look below to see the numbers that powered the positioning.
- Streaming: 48.8 million U.S.-based streams
- Sales: 49,000 digital downloads
- Radio airplay: 4 million audience impressions
Beyond standing as the week’s best-selling (pure sales) and overall top debut on the all-genre hitlist, the runner-up placement marks the highest chart position Em has reached since his Rihanna-assisted ‘Monster’ moved to #1 in late 2013.
His 23rd Hot 100 top 10, ‘Houdini’ – the first single from his forthcoming 12th studio album ‘The Death of Slim Shady‘ – makes the 51-year-old only the 18th artist in the tally’s 65-year history to collect as many hits in the chart region.
Among rappers, only Drake (78), Lil Wayne (25), and Nicki Minaj (23) have as many or more top 10 hits.
