Normani has confirmed that she was indeed set to blaze the stage at tonight’s BET Awards 2024.
However, in an unfortunate twist, the singer has revealed that an injury has caused her to drop out from the coveted spot.

The ‘Candy Paint’ performer has been promoting her finally unlocked debut album ‘Dopamine’ and murmurs have been gathering volume about a potential BET Awards showing in support of the set.
Moments ago, though, she shared that an injury in rehearsals left her on crutches and she had to vacate the slot in order to heal.

“l am more frustrated and disappointed than anyone believe me. I wanted to get on here and give you guys an update letting you know that while in rehearsals for BET had a really bad accident and injured myself. I am normally good for powering through under any circumstance but unfortunately due to my doctor’s orders, I am just not able to make this performance happen. I desperately wanted to give you my best on that stage but performing would delay my healing.
I have been going through my process and doing my best to make sense of my feelings regarding this. I am devastated and hate feeling like a disappointment to you but I have to focus on recovering at this time. Trust me, I hear you, and I see you. There is nothing more that I wanted to do than perform for you and also, get back to doing what fulfills me most- BEING ON STAGE. Thank you so much for understanding. Sending my love to BET for giving me and all of the other beautiful black women this opportunity. This is definitely NOT how l envisioned this weekend but best believe I will be championing everyone from home tonight.

You never know, she could release a deluxe….with songs that I dunno, have better hooks or whatever. There’s hope. Doja Cat first album Amala didn’t reach billboard 200. But her Hot Pink debuted 90 something and eventually made it to top ten. Doja performed a ridiculous amount, though, Say So took off too, and when she performed, she started to switch up how she delivered her songs to keep them fresh. This ‘flop’ mentality is so toxic though. Each artist is on their own journey. Normani clearly has talent. There’s so many factors. Like I still don’t know why Normani, prior to her injury, hasn’t been booked to perform live or release more videos for this so called era. Sure she’s done some interviews in magazines or YouTube. But where’s her Vevo, The Tonight Show, heck even festivals….Camila just performed at Glastonbury. Her injury is a set back but by this stage she must be learning resilience. She just has to keep going.
