Open roads have led Monica to a full-circle moment in her illustrious career as reports have surfaced the R&B diva has traveled back to WME – the talent agency that represented her during her breakthrough ‘Miss Thang‘ era in the mid-90s.
Fans who have impatiently awaited news on Mo’s long-awaited ninth studio album were sent into a frenzy on Wednesday (July 31) once news broke of the R&B veteran’s return to WME – a report that was trumpeted alongside an update about the forthcoming LP.
Once titled ‘Trenches,’ the set has now been christened ‘MDA‘ (presumably after her initials Monica Denise Arnold).
What’s more, music lovers will be gifted a consolation prize for their patience as Arnold has confirmed a second project – the Country-inspired ‘Open Roads‘ – is loading and will be produced by 11x GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile.
““I’m truly excited about this full circle moment to reconnect with WME since that’s where it all started for me with my debut album, ‘Miss Thang!,’” Mo said in a statement. “My heart is filled with immense joy as I reunite with my first talent agency for the upcoming 30th anniversary of ‘Miss Thang.’ I’m grateful, humbled and immeasurably thrilled about the possibilities of this reunion! Their exceptional track record and knowledge regarding my brand, both past and present, makes them the perfect partner for myself as an artist, and MonDeenise Productions as a whole. I look forward to working closely with their incredible team and exploring new opportunities.”
Monica’s cousin, Melinda Dancil of Melinda Enterprises, LLC, continues to be her manager.
At the time of this report Mo has not confirmed the release dates of ‘MDA’ or ‘Roads.’
