Post Malone has now responded to claims that he is a culture vulture.

More details below…

In a video interview with ‘Newonce,’ Malone caught flack for saying: “If you’re looking for lyrics, if you’re looking to cry, if you’re looking to think about life, don’t listen to Hip Hop.”

“There are great Hip Hop songs where they talk about life, and they spit that real s**t, but right now, there’s not a lot of people talking about real s**t. Whenever I want to cry or sit down and have a nice cry, I’ll listen to some Bob Dylan,” he continued.

Malone’s rise to fame because of his Hip Hop songs like ‘Psycho’ and ‘White Iverson.’

Now, in a new interview with with GQ, he shared denied that he appropriated Blackness at the start of his career.

“I just want to be a person that makes music. I make music that I like, and I think that kicks a*s, that I think people who f**k with me as a person and as an artist will like.”

His new album is a country album and features some of the biggest name in the genre.

Black people need to stay out of white people’s business. They know better.

Sorry but he needs to be real, he got limelight by being a ‘unicorn’ in an uNeXpEcTeD genre, which he indirectly showed he doesn’t respect, and now he’s got the shine/clout to do what he (likely) always wanted to do. He always gave me Miley Cyrus vibes in that respect so i’ve never entertained the rapper nonsense. It’s insincere to not even address the comments he made about hip hop. It’s fine to switch genres but it doesn’t feel like he ever had genuine love for the space he originally took up, hence the culture vulture aura.

You could say the same thing about Kid Rock and Pink. They made a name for themselves doing Hop Hop or R&B type music and then moved on to the type of music they really want to make. Some artists just start off in whatever genre they think will get their career started. Whether they admit it or not, there is a level of fakeness and in some cases, appropriation, in that.
