With Diddy at the center of debate after being hit with federal charges, his mother Janice Combs has spoken up and out.
In a statement issued moments ago, the 83-year-old stressed her belief in his “innocence” after he was formally indicted on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
The Combs matriarch unpacks her frustration with the “lies” leveled against the embattled mogul and insists that his disproven claim of never being physical with Cassie does not automatically make him guilty of the criminal and growing list of civil cases mounted against him.
She pleaded, adding: “my son is not the monster they have painted him to be.”

In a statement issued via her legal counsel, Janice wrote:
“I come to you today as a mother that is devastated and profoundly saddened by the allegations made against my son, Sean Combs. It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies. To bear witness what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words. Like every human being, my son deserves to have his day in court, to finally share his side, and to prove his innocence.
I am not here to portray my son as perfect because he is not. He has made mistakes in his past, as we all have. My son may not have been entirely truthful about certain things, such as denying he has ever gotten violent with an ex-girlfriend when the hotel’s surveillance showed otherwise. Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story, especially when that truth is outside the norm or is too complicated to be believed. This is why I believe my son’s civil legal team opted to settle the ex-girlfriend’s lawsuit instead of contesting it until the end, resulting in a ricochet effect as the federal government used this decision against my son by interpreting it as an admission of guilt.
It is important to recognize that none of us, regardless of our status, are immune to fear or mistakes. Not being entirely straightforward about one issue does not mean my son is guilty of the repulsive allegations and the grave charges leveled against him. Many individuals who were wrongfully convicted and later exonerated had their freedom taken from them not because they were guilty of the crimes they were accused of, but because they didn’t fit the image of what this society considers to be a “good person.” History has showed us how individuals can be wrongfully convicted due to their past actions or mistakes.
Watching the world make jokes and laugh at my son’s life crumbling before our eyes is something I can never forget. It is truly agonizing to watch the world turn against my son so quickly and easily over lies and misconceptions, without ever hearing his side or affording him the opportunity to present his side. These lies thrown at him are motivated by those seeking a financial gain, and not justice. These individuals saw how quickly my son’s civil legal team settled his ex-girlfriend’s lawsuit, so they believe they can receive a quick payday by falsely accusing my son. False allegations of sexual assault thwart true victims of sexual violence from getting the justice they deserve. To make matters worse, the federal government is now using these lies to prosecute my son. This injustice has been unbearable for our family. The worst part of this ordeal is watching my beloved son be stripped of his dignity, not for what he did, but for what people choose to believe about him. I ask his supporters, fans, colleagues, friends, and the public, to not judge him before you’ve had the chance to hear his side. I beg you to think about those who have been wrongfully persecuted, to remember that not everyone who has made mistakes in life deserves to have their entire existence judged by a single action or a few mistakes. My son is not the monster they have painted him to be, and he deserves the chance to tell his side. I can only pray that I am alive to see him speak his truth and be vindicated.”
Respectfully submitted on the behalf of Janice Smalls Combs and the Combs’ family.
Diddy (born Sean Combs), faces decades in prison if convicted.
There’s NOTHING LIKE A MOTHER’S LOVE-FOR GOOD, BAD, OR INDIFFERENT.
That Being Said, Mrs. J. Combs NEED TO KNOW THAT IT IS HER OWN SON WHO PAINTED HIMSELF IN THIS DARKNESS BY HIS ACTIONS!
This is to say: Had there not been FOOTAGE OF HIM RUNNING DOWN A HOTEL HALLWAY WRAPPED IN ONLY A TOWEL KICKING & BEATING & DRAGGING THE WOMAN HE CLAIMED TO LOVE IN AN ELEVATOR CORRIDOR, I wouldn’t have believed MOST OF the charges that Puff is being charged with either.
FACE IT: THE DUDE HID WHO HE REALLY IS FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS FROM THE PUBLIC. NOW KARMA HAS KNOCKED ON HIS DOOR & DRAGGED HIM AWAY TO FACE THE REAL MUSIC FOR HIS ALLEGED ACTIONS!
And she only sued cause Diddy was banging other women like Yung Miami. He’s still not this evil monster
I DO NOT TRUST CASSIE’S MOTIVES.
That being said, I DO NOT NOR HAVE I EVER TRUSTED PUFF AT ALL!
I THINK HE NEEDS TO ANSWER FOR KIM PORTER’S DEATH AS WELL AS ANDRE HARRELL’S UNEXPLAINED DEATH TOO!
I ALSO THINK THAT HE MAY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR TUPAC SHAKUR’S DEATH IN SOME WAY!
I DON’T TRUST THE N*99A AT ALL!
FREE DIDDY
He’s blessed to still have his mother’s love and support. But the charges he’s facing are based on evidence the feds collected directly from his home. Many of the other allegations are not new and are coming from people whom he had the power and influence to silence for years.
The evidence doesn’t show a monster
That’s for a jury to decide. But the Cassie tape has already solidified the public’s opinion of him being a monster.
Diddy or Diddy not? That is the question.
In the screechy shrill cackle of Nicki Minaj… “did it on ’em”
Lmao that hotel video proves he is a MONSTER. Over 100 people spoke out and there’s certainly more. Everything is a lie ?!
JUSTICE FOR CASSIE
Oh Janice, whether or not Diddy has a story to tell, the truth is he beat a woman and kept her under his control for years. Others have come forward with allegations of abuse, coercive control, battery and depraved activity. He has tunnels under his home decked out like dungeons with chains, and whips. The police confiscated a 1000 bottles of lube/baby oil. That ain’t the actions of a man who ain’t got ish to hide. We know you think the sun shines out of your son’s rectum, it don’t.
THAT 100 BOTTLE OF BABY OIL I DON’T HOLD AGAINST HIM.
SINCE WHEN IS OWNING THOUSANDS OF BOTTLES OF ANYTHING BECOME A CRIME?!?!?
ALMOST EVERYTHING ELSE I BELIEVE HE’D DONE OR WATCHED SOMEONE ELSE DO.
