Mariah Carey Reacts to Ariana Grande Calling Her the “Queen of My Life”

Despite their respective fan bases (affectionately called #Lambs and #Arianators) spending most of the 2010s thinking there was bad blood between them, the 2020s have proven there’s nothing but love between music icon Mariah Carey and Pop superstar Ariana Grande.

And, if supremely touching comments from the Songbird Supreme are anything to judge by, that lovefest shows no sign of ending any time soon.

Hot on the promo trail in support of the November 22 release of her forthcoming film ‘Wicked,’ Grande joined co-star Cynthia Erivo for a chat with ‘Vanity Fair’ recently to tackle the mag’s popular lie-detector test.

During her visit, Ariana referred to Mariah as her favorite collaborator (as the two have shared studio time for the remixes to songs ‘Oh Santa‘ and ‘Yes, And?’).

“Mariah is the queen of my life,” Grande said during the interview. “I think I have to say you [Erivo]. [Wicked] is a very unique thing that we got to do. Singing face to face together, and hearing your voice in my ears … it’s like the best thing that’s ever happened to me in my life. Obviously, Mariah, but obviously, you! Can’t we have a tie?”

The statement echoes a sentiment rendered by Grande in February.

She’s the queen of my life, the reason I sing, she’s my number one vocal inspiration. I learned to sing by mimicking her. My sound was so influenced by her,” she told Zach Sang about Mimi at the time.

Once news of the ‘Vanity Fair’ quote landed on Mariah’s desk, the diva – who recently made headlines for a stunning American Music Awards (AMAs) tribute to the 20th anniversary of her 2004 blockbuster album ‘Emancipation of Mimi‘ – responded with sweet words.

“Love you @arianagrande,” MiMi wrote Sunday (October 6), the same day as the AMAs. “Can’t wait for the movie!”

We love to see it.
