Speaking out publicly for the first time, Kelly’s daughter Buku Abi (born Joann Kelly) is alleging she suffered sexual abuse at the GRAMMY winner’s hands during her childhood.
Revealed during TVEI Streaming Network’s new two-episode documentary ‘Karma: A Daughter’s Journey,’ Buku shares what encouraged her to finally come forward.
“He was my everything. For a long time, I didn’t even want to believe that it happened. I didn’t know that even if he was a bad person that he would do something to me,” she said in ‘Karma.’ “I was too scared to tell anybody. I was too scared to tell my mom.”.
Later, she discusses the aftermath of the traumatic event.
“I really feel like that one millisecond completely just changed my whole life and changed who I was as a person and changed the sparkle I had and the light I used to carry,” she says. “After I told my mom, I didn’t go over there anymore; my brother [Robert] and sister [Jaah], we didn’t go over there anymore. And even up until now I struggle with it a lot.”
Recounting the horrific experience, Joann says she was 8 or 9-years-old the first time it happened.
“I just remember waking up to him touching me,” she shared. “And I didn’t know what to do, so I just kind of laid there, and I pretended to be asleep.”

At 10-years-old (in 2009), Buku finally told her mother – dancer-choreographer Andrea Kelly – what happened and they filed a complaint under a “Jane Doe” alias.

“They [the authorities] couldn’t prosecute him because I waited too long. So at that point in my life, I felt like I said something for nothing,” Abi said.

I don’t believe her honestly.. she played as a victim so no one would blame her and her daddy…

Why would anyone want to accuse their OWN FATHER of s** abuse? That would require you to be more sick and twisted than the person committing the abuse.

People will do or say anything for fast cash these days. She should’ve said something before all these surviving R.Kelly stuff . Why wait?

      • S.REID October 11, 2024

EXACTLY & that’s what’s at the root of people questioning her reasons: Why Now?
As much as folks don’t want to think that she’s lying, MANY have questions on the REAL Reason for her revelation NEARLY THREE YEARS AFTER Her Dad is LOCKED UP with a 30 YEAR SENTENCE?
It’s Sad all the way around, BUT SHE NEEDS A THERAPIST & A PRIEST, WHICH AIN’T THE MEDIA OR THOSE WHO ARE intrigued by her revelation.

That is the most selfish thing one can say. If you can read you can clearly see that her was 9 when it happened. She was a little girl. She told her mom at 10 and a complaint was filed and police did nothing. So I would’ve felt the same way I just told for nothing. It’s people like you that don’t believe people when they are telling the truth. I myself been sexual assaulted when I was around 11 by a family member and til this day I still haven’t said anything because of people like you.

R Kelly and Diddy are the surface. They always make examples of the Black folks. What I want to know next is what about the rest. Y’all know white music execs and producers are just as culpable and guilty.

Please focus on the topic. Why dragging other races?

    • SloLove October 11, 2024

You are absolutely right. They are throwing us under the bus left and right. Sacrifices indeed. I do not believe his daughter one bit. The white execs probably offered her 50 mill to come out and make these accusations

these exposé style docs being churned out now are so transparent. the only purpose is to generate revenue for the producers and networks and a quick payday for anyone willing to say what they want to hear.

      💯

IF THIS IS TRUE-& MORE IMPORTANTLY, IF IT ISN’T TRUE, THIS GIRL NEEDS THERAPY- NOT MEDIA ATTENTION.
SHE SHOULD TELL THIS TO A MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL, NOT THE PUBLIC-WE CAN’T HELP HER EITHER WAY.
