Shawn Mendes is setting the record straight about his sexuality.
For years, an arguably intrusive speculation has trailed the star about his orientation.
And he’s largely remained mum about it.
Until now.
With new album ‘Shawn’ incoming, the singer seized the moment during his latest live performance to address what he says is the “real truth” about his sexuality. On his terms.

Opening up, Mendes said:
“People have been talking about my sexuality for so long. I think it’s kinda silly, because sexuality is such a beautifully complex thing and it’s so hard to put into boxes. And it always felt like an intrusion on something very personal to me. Something that I was figuring out in myself, something that I had yet to discover…and still have yet to discover.”
Continuing, he added:
“The real truth about my life and sexuality is that, man I’m just figuring it out like everyone. I don’t really know sometimes and I know other times. It feels really scary because we live in a society that has a lot to say about that.”

He doesn’t owe us an explanation. But it sounds like he still isn’t ready to completely confirm and is using it as a marketing ploy. His fans may not appreciate that.
