One thing fans of Amerie have consistently begged for over the years has been a new studio album from the R&B diva whose last EPs – ‘After 4AM’ and ‘4AM Mulholland’ – were released in 2018.
But, if her recent interview with Questlove is any indication, their patience will soon be rewarded.

Acting as a guest on The Roots star Questlove’s iHeart podcast ‘Questlove Supreme’ recently, Amerie dished on everything from her humble beginnings and rise to fame to the successes of her first two LPs (2002’s ‘All I Have‘ and 2005’s ‘Touch‘), label drama, why she took an extended break from releasing music to focus on authorship, and more.
Most excitingly among the subjects of discussion over the two-and-a-half-hour interview was news of her plan for a new album – an update from the last time she broached the topic two years ago.
“I’m just now beginning working on the next album,” she shared after relaying she’s also dropping a novel in 2025.“I just had a conversation with a producer I won’t name just yet, and we were like ‘okay we gotta get in and play.'”
And though she didn’t state a tentative release date for the musical project, she did share how being an independent artist helps creativity flow and eases the pressure of racing to deadlines.
“That’s one thing I like about not being in the traditional record label system because it didn’t really work for me because I’m always creating something,” she relayed.
Longtime fans have long called for a “return to form” of the 2x GRAMMY nominee, namely referencing her hits that were crafted by Beyonce‘s ‘Crazy in Love‘ producer Rich Harrison.
However, Amerie suggested she’s unsure if he’ll be lending his gogo-inspired style to her forthcoming opus as she doesn’t even know if he’s still doing music.
“We haven’t spoken in a long time…as of today,” she said despite denying there is tension between them.
All isn’t lost, though.
“There’s always [potential for us to reunite],” she shared. “I just literally have to [call him].”
What’s more, Questlove ended the interview by saying he wants to collaborate with the R&B diva! Exciting times ahead.

It’s about damn time Hunnie! Thiefonce is shaking! Amerie is smart enough not sharing any producers for her upcoming project..
Who shaking over a flop has been from 20 years ago lmao
Theft is shaking. Not out of fear but anxiety about when it will drop so she cans steal those ideas too! The most unoriginal to ever do it. Amerie’s first 2 albums outshine Thefyonce’s entire body of work.
delusional AF! LMAOOO
Fish Ping Pong again
Just like how thiefonce is stealing Amerie’s horse riding vision idea
No, she didn’t. Many people had that same idea. Like, stfu
Amerie mentioned the idea on the breakfast club interview back in 2016, then the renaissance cover came 8 years later…..
Stop comparing Beyonce to Amerie; it’s an insult. However, Amerie is a great artist and I hope she doesn’t go back to her old producer. He’s dated.
No he’s not. He’s signature when he and Amerie connect and it would be a great look. Especially now because it’s been so long since we have heard his sound. Not to mention, he can still work with her and deliver an updated sound. That’s what most producer’s do.
We don’t need a new alarm clock
🗣💀
I’m here for it all 4 of her albums are still in rotation from time to time…I’m excited what she brings this time around.
I’m sure it’ll be good but she better tread carefully so Bey won’t get her @zZ again LOL
AMERIE IS STILL A PRETTY CLASSY LADY. SHE’LL BE FINE NOT CARING ABOUT NO OTHER CHICK IN THE GAME CUZ SHE GOT HER OWN LANE & AIN’T TRYNNA VEER INTO SOME OTHER MUSIC GENRE LIKE ANOTHER CHICK HAD ATTEMPTED BUT FAILED AT!
SHE GOOD.
Yass welcome back our original true Blackasian queen! Hope she gets to collab with some Kpop artists as well like one of BTS or BlackPink members.
