RIAA: Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Espresso’ Ties Shaboozey’s ‘Bar Song’ for Highest-Certified Song of 2024

Among the music industry’s relative newcomers, no one could boast having a better breakout year than Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Shaboozey, and Sabrina Carpenter.

And while the former two cranked out hits galore to the tune of historic success, the latter duo did that and more with the leading hits from their respective albums ‘Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going’ and the Billboard 200-topping Short N Sweet.

Just in case the Billboard chart triumphs of their respective LPs wasn’t enough to celebrate, December brought with it news from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) that will give both stars reason to raise a toast.

Previously penciled in 2024’s record books for tying the highest-certified single among women, Carpenter learned her megahit ‘Espresso‘ had singed its way to 5x Platinum status at the RIAA earlier this month.

For context, “Platinum” refers to sales equivalence of 1 million in the United States.

The certification upgrade not only made Sabrina the sole owner of the year’s highest-certified single among women, but also tied her for the highest-certified single among all artists for songs released in 2024.

Before her, Shaboozey – with his history-making ‘A Bar Song‘ – set the bar when it reached 5x Platinum in September.
