Nelly, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, and ‘Crank That’ creator Soulja Boy have seen critics crank up the heat something serious over the days leading to Monday’s inauguration of Donald Trump (January 20).
Each of the chart-topping performers have experienced varying levels of backlash for performing at events in support of the sworn-in president with the ‘Hot in Herre‘ hitmaker (born Cornell Haynes) seemingly catching the biggest burn as he actually performed at the highlight of all inaugural events – the Liberty Ball.
And though Soulja and Haynes have made headlines for defending their decisions to render live renditions of their hits in honor of Trump, their explanations weren’t enough to sate many detractors including megachurch pastor Jamal Bryant of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta.
Look inside to see the fiery words he lent to the Hip Hop hitmakers ahead of Monday’s event.
While offering the benediction during Sunday’s service (January 19), Bryant unexpectedly turned his attention to political matters by calling out Nelly, Snoop, Ross, and Soulja.
“Don’t you watch that inauguration tomorrow,” he started telling in-person attendees and at-home live streamers. “Delete Snoop Dogg out of your discography…delete Nelly, delete Rick Ross.”
The pastor seemed poised to continue his rant but cut it short due to the urging of wife and New Birth First Lady Dr. Karri Bryant.
However, she made her support of the message clear later that day by taking to her Instagram stories to share the now-viral clip of his boycott encouragement.
See the full clip above.
The continued backlash each performer is facing has seemingly amplified over the last few days, especially for Nelly who is even seeing some of the blowback spill over to his chart-topping wife Ashanti (as reported here).
At writing, however, none of the four have responded to Bryant’s calls for music lovers to stop listening to their music.

Truthfully, y’all shoulda boycotted these “artists” for their misogynistic and homophobic lyrics ages ago…
He’s the last one to be calling for a boycott of anybody Pastor Holy Wh*re😂
Church and state don’t mix.
Jamal Byant should have been cancelled himself and needs to shut up. I don’t like him, Trump or any of them hut he’s a supposed man of god who shouldn’t preach politics from the pulpit. Tax them if that what he wants to do, but he has no moral high ground on which to stand with his adulterous dealings.
They are sell out. They are no good for people of coler. Get them out our llives.
