Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins is set to have his legacy immortalized with one of the most prestigious honors in music.
It has been announced that the R&B/Pop hitmaker will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Jerkins – who has helmed classics for the likes of Destiny’s Child, Michael Jackson, Brandy, and the Spice Girls – is joined in the Class of 2025 by: George Clinton, Ashley Gorley, Mike Love, Tony Macaulay, and The Doobie Brothers.
SHOF Chairman Nile Rodgers said of the new inductees:
“The foundation of the music industry exists because songwriters compose great songs. Without them, there is no recorded music, no concert business, no fans, or merchandizing; it all starts with the song and the songwriter. We are therefore very proud that we are continually recognizing some of the culturally most important writers of all time and that this year’s slate represents not just iconic songs, but also diversity and unity across genres, ethnicity, and gender. These songwriters have enriched the lives of billions of listeners the world over. It’s our honor to honor them.”
The 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction and Awards gala takes place Thursday, June 12 at its longtime home, the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
