With seven nods, Kendrick Lamar is the 2025 GRAMMYs’ second most-nominated male act – trailing only behind Post Malone who racked up eight.
Unlike Malone, not only is Lamar off a fiery start thanks to his 2024 megahit ‘Not Like Us’ but his wins are placing him in the ceremony’s history books beside some all-time greats.
During the GRAMMY pre-show telecast on Sunday night (February 2), Lamar collected his 20th golden gramophone courtesy of wins in the Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance categories.
The victories put him in an exclusive class of Black male artists who can boast having at least 20 trophies to their names – a list led by the legendary producer-songwriter Quincy Jones (28).
Behind the late producer is legend Stevie Wonder (25) followed by rappers JAY-Z and Kanye West (24 each), Gospel royal Kirk Franklin (20), and now Lamar (20).
Update: By the night’s end, Lamar captured two more awards – breaking his tie with Franklin.
