Dawn Robinson rode straight to the top of headlines last week when she shockingly revealed she has been living in her car for three years.
Granted, the 58-year-old suggested the decision was voluntary, but that didn’t stop legions of fans and fellow celebrities from extending sympathy – some even offering to start crowdfunding while others (like her ex-husband Andre Allen) offered job opportunities.
And though Robinson took to social media to thank everyone for helping her situation “go viral,” she made very clear that one opportunity she will never accept is the chance to reunite with her former girl group En Vogue.
Original EV member Maxine Jones may have made headlines in February when she returned to the fold after a decade-plus-long absence, but that stunning NBA All-Star game reunion performance seemed to have moved everyone but Dawn.
While interacting with fans in the comment sections of her social media accounts, Robinson dismissed the notion of following Jones’ footsteps back into the group.
“[I’m] not going back to EV. Should’ve stayed gone when they wrongly terminated me the first time,” she said in response to a concerned commenter who suggested she go back to the quartet.
Doubling down on her stance, Dawn told another commenter she was simply “not interested” after being urged to get back with EV members Jones, Cindy Herron, and Terry Ellis.
Reunions weren’t the only suggestions getting a thumbs down from the diva.
A number of fans offered to open their homes for the 58-year-old to have a safe place to sleep. And though she seemed grateful for the offerings, she still declined.
“I am not in need of a home yet,” she told one follower. “My car life is part of my journey. I am building my future which will include my beach home in the near future.”
At the time of this report, no En Vogue member has spoken publicly about Dawn’s situation.
Your thoughts?

As much as i love Dawn (shes my fave from the group), she’s the problem here and I’m realizing maybe she’s the reason why none of her efforts work out for her. She’s been in like 3 to 4 groups and always leaves due to disagreements with others and how they are the ones in the wrong. There’s a deeper problem here than what we can see. Best of luck to her
It appears that Dawn suffers from mental illness. I’m not a medical professional but the signs are there. She’s pushing 60 yrs old. Not much anyone can do. She’s gotta want help for herself.
At this point no one should be sitting around feeling sorry for Dawn. This woman has more options than most. Her life, her choices, her consequences.
Not all, but some homeless people choose to live that way. This is a perfect example. She doesn’t have to be homeless if she doesn’t want. She wants this.
