The rapper-singer has been bestowed with the honor two years after being named a Rising Star by the publication.
Doechii, who is currently riding the wave of buzz around her fan-demanded single ‘Anxiety,’ will formally receive the award at the Billboard Women in Music 2025 ceremony on March 29. Viewers can tune in live via Vizio WatchFree+ at 10pm ET/7pm PT.
Speaking on the Hannah Karp, Editorial Director of Billboard, said:
“After receiving the Billboard Women in Music Rising Star Award in 2023, Doechii has quickly gained recognition in the music industry for her bold creativity and impressive talent. and what did she do to earn this title? is she an humanitarian ? is she helping other women without it being a detriment to men? No, this is nasty. all she had to do was come out and say she does not date straight men. and this is exhibit A as to why men either mash and dash or cheat. cause women like them dont respect themselves
No one saw this coming or could have predicted this level of success for her so quickly. Height of her career thus far…and with a mixtape—her best work to date. Doechii just minding her business. Being creative. Putting in the work. Releasing music. Making videos. Creating concepts. Staying out of any drama. She literally bypassed all other young contemporary female rappers.
