Thanks to a Tik Tok-fueled resurgence, Janet Jackson‘s 2001 smash ‘Someone to Call My Lover‘ is ringing up the Billboard charts!
Nearly 25 years after Jackson soared to the top 5 of the Hot 100 with ‘Lover,’ the ‘All for You‘ hit is experiencing a Billboard rebound due in great part to going viral on social media over the last few months.
As reported here, the Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis-produced track zoomed into the upper rankings of the Billboard’s now-discontinued Tik Tok chart thanks to an over 600% uptick in streams since gaining traction on the video-based platform.
This week, the ‘Ventura Highway‘-sampling tune is found at #3 on the updated R&B Digital Song Sales tally – the highest rung any female reached on the hitlist’s newest print.
Among all artists, only the current popular hits ‘Mutt‘ (Leon Thomas) and the mega-viral ‘Boots on the Ground‘ (803Fresh) are outpacing Jan’s 24-year-old single.
At writing, the sales and streaming combo ‘Lover’ has enjoyed so far hasn’t been quite enough to help it crack the H0t 100 again.
But, at the rate its popularity is reviving, it seems poised to be well on its way to recapturing its former chart glory.
Until we find out for sure, look below to see who did dominate this week’s updated Hot 100 on the new TGJ Chart Check.

Please don’t forget that Janet Jackson is also credited as a producer with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, on this song and most of her songs. I know it’s not intentional here, but Janet’s non-vocal contributions to all of her projects with J&L have largely been ignored, creating a false perception of her overall talent.
White people stay late chile
I missed the old Janet not the White men’s s l u t
But arent you a white man’s s l u t? Make it make sense, Boo.
Miss MF Jackson if you nasty.
They wanted her out of the narrative so bad to create false legacies
I love that gen z has done their own research
