Ms. Jackson’s ‘Lover’ is seeing a resurgence on TikTok. It’s currently sitting at #26 on TikTok’s Viral 50 chart.
According to Billboard, the song has seen a 606% surge in streams over the past four weeks, including 1.14 MILLION on-demand U.S. streams. Along with being #16 on Spotify’s Daily Viral Songs USA.
The track had over 680,000 plays on the latest tracking day on the Spotify Global chart and rose to #151 on the US chart – Jackson’s first entry.
‘Lover’ has been used for cover and choreographed dances on TikTok. But also for other TikToks as well, like when Black content creators, especially Black women, were posting TikToks of themselves describing the song as a quirky Black girl bop.
The ‘Rhythm Nation’ singer has taken notice of the recent popularity of the song by liking and reposting TikTok videos using the song. Even going as far as letting fans, old and new, in on the songwriting and production process of said song.
