Janet Jackson took a break from rocking the stages of Resorts World Theatre aboard her critically acclaimed Las Vegas residency to give American TV viewers a reminder of why they need to be rushing to Sin City to see her live.
On hand at the 2025 American Music Awards (also held in Vegas), Jackson was crowned this year’s recipient of the AMAs ICON Award for her “undeniable cultural and global influence over the music industry.”
Before accepting the trophy (the 12th AMA win of her career), Janet blazed the stage with a medley of some of her greatest hits including ‘Someone to Call My Lover,’ ‘All For You,’ and more. The showing marked her first award show performance in 7 years.

If you know ANYTHING about Janet, you know that she loves some low key moves. That’s part of what makes her unique. That performance hit it’s mark. I hate that today’s audiences don’t appreciate anything but STADIUM-SIZED production ALL THE TIME. Go see her in Vegas if that’s what you want. You guys will learn you can give “diva” WITHOUT shouting it from the rooftops every chance you get…And I wouldn’t be onstage backflippin/twerking in 7-inch heels and a thong at 60 for you either – whether I could or not – just so you could say “she still doing the same stuff she did 35 years ago”…Neva satisfied.
