The mogul’s legal team’s motion for a mistrial is set to be announced Tuesday (June 9) in his ongoing federal sex trafficking and racketeering case.
On day 19 of the high-profile trial, Judge Arun Subramanian announced he will hold off on ruling until Tuesday, leaving the defense and prosecution in suspense.
Diddy’s attorneys filed a motion over the weekend, alleging that the prosecution introduced false testimony. The controversy centers around Cassie Ventura’s statement that she witnessed Diddy holding Bryana Bongolan over a balcony edge.
However, defense lawyers cited a text Cassie allegedly sent to Diddy’s employee Kristina Khorram, in which she admitted,
“I just found out some crazy sh*t,”
Suggesting she did not witness the incident firsthand but heard about it afterward.
Adding to the defense’s argument, prosecutors submitted photos of Bongolan’s injuries, allegedly from the balcony incident. However, the photo metadata indicates they were taken on September 26, 2016, a date when Diddy’s team claims he was on the East Coast, not in Los Angeles, where the incident supposedly occurred.
Whether these developments are enough to halt or reset the trial remains to be seen. The court’s decision on the mistrial motion is expected on Tuesday.
