In a recent sit-down with Hot 97, Tyler confessed he took the title from a venture he planned with Rocky. He shared:
“I thought that would be super cool, but we didn’t end up doing that, I just always had that title in the tuck.”
It turns out, the only thing keeping the collab from launching wasn’t artistic differences; it was scheduling chaos. Specifically, Tyler’s early bird hustle clashing with Rocky’s nocturnal grind. He revealed:
“We have a few records, but scheduling was really hard, and by scheduling I mean in the literal sense, not like, ‘Oh at the Gucci shoot.’ No, like I wake up at 7 a.m. or 6:30. I’m trying to record at 7 a.m. and be out of there by noon or 1 and finish the rest of my day out at the office and be asleep by 9. That n***a is a night owl.”
Fast forward, and Tyler says he shelved the name until his eclectic album dropped this July. Arriving sans much notice, the chart-topping is a self-produced, dance-floor blitz that delivers everything his late-night studio dreams didn’t.
