Lil Yatchy controversial George Floyd lyric

Lil Yachty is facing intense backlash after previewing an unreleased track containing a controversial George Floyd lyric.

Full story below…

The incident unfolded on August 14 during the Georgia rapper’s appearance on Plaqueboymax’s livestream.

Around the 43 minute mark, Yatchy encouraged the host to play the song part of his upcoming ‘It’s Us Vol. 2’ project and mouthed along to the lyrics.

Controversy erupted when listeners caught the line:

“Put my knee on her neck, I went George Floyd.”

Watch the clip below:

Social media swiftly lit up with criticism, with many accusing Yatchy of disrespecting Floyd’s memory and the movement his killing helped galvanize.

Floyd’s death in May 2020 was caused by ex-Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin when he knelt on his neck for over nine minutes. This sparked global protests against police brutality and fueled the Black Lives Matter movement.

The uproar also reignited attention on Yatchy’s past comments dismissing BLM as a “scam” remarks he made during an appearance on Quenlin Blackwell’s ‘Feeding Starving Celebrities’ series.

Has the controversy cast a shadow over the release of ‘It’s Us Vol. 2?’

It’s 2025, he knew he wasn’t selling Sh*t so he had to do something, no matter how low it was. Now his streams will run up just so ppl can see what all the fuss about, not because it’s good. He knew it was insensitive when he rapped it for the first time in the booth. They’re desperate these days. Sad…

And this is why hiphop is dead. Decades of no morals, no class, and no self respect have worn out their welcome.

Most criminals are inspired by George Floyd’s favorite lines, like “I can’t breathe….”
    “What I do? I didn’t’ do anythang….”
Coz they said these thang so many times and trying to get away. I don’t blame the cops don’t believe them.
    CRY WOLF 💅🏼
