It’s been nearly a week since Ellie the Elephant, the mascot for the WNBA’s New York Liberty team, delivered a show-stopping tribute to the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul Mary J. Blige, but many on social media are still mesmerized by the September 9-aired halftime show.
And, as evidenced by the adulation personally delivered by MJB herself, apparently they aren’t the only ones.

Donned in full Blige-inspired fashion from thigh-high boots to a cheetah-print outfit and even a Platinum blonde wig, Ellie captivated the audience with the famous “Mary strut” while lip-syncing to the diva’s 1994 smash ‘Be Happy.’
Later catching up with the R&B royal at the Off-White Show from New York Fashion Week (NYFW) last week, the elated elephant bowed as Mary approached.
“Give me a high five,” Blige said before heaping praise on the mascot. “You had me thinking that was me [performing at the halftime show].”
The two later posed it up in a sweet photo.
